Child Safety Policy & Procedures

1. Statement of Commitment
The studio is committed to the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of all children. We have zero tolerance for bullying, harm, or neglect.
We actively work to:
Create safe environments
Prevent harm before it occurs
Respond appropriately to concerns
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
Staff (including contractors)
Volunteers
Students
Parents and carers
3. Child Safe Principles (QLD Standards Alignment)
We:
Prioritise the best interests of the child
Embed child safety into leadership and culture
Involve children and families in decisions affecting them
Respect diversity and inclusion
Continuously review and improve practices
4. Risk Management
We proactively identify and reduce risks, including:
Physical environment
Clear visibility in studios
Appropriate supervision
Operational risks
Controlled communication platforms
Monitoring of shared content (videos/photos)
5. Recruitment & Screening
All staff must hold a valid Blue Card before commencing
Staff are assessed for suitability to work with children
6. Staff Training
All staff receive:
Ongoing training in recognising and responding to harm
Clear guidance on boundaries and expectations
7. Reporting & Responding to Concerns
Staff must report:
Any suspicion or disclosure of harm
Any breach of the Code of Conduct
Process:
Ensure immediate safety of the child
Report to Studio Director immediately document the concern
Escalate to relevant authorities where required
Confidentiality is maintained, but safety takes priority.
8. Managing Complaints
All complaints are taken seriously
Responses are timely and child-focused
Families are kept informed where appropriate
External reporting occurs where required
9. Breach of Policy
Breaches may result in:
Removal from duties
Investigation
Termination
External reporting
10. Continuous Improvement
We:
Regularly review policies
Seek feedback from families and students
Update practices to remain compliant
Maintain records of incidents
